Bob Boyd has entertained audiences
all over Arkansas as leader or co-leader of his own band and has been doing
so for over 50 years. At age 3 he learned to play the piano by watching
his mother who also played by ear. His father, grandmother, sister and brother
all were hobby musicians. Bob played for church services at age 14 and had
his own radio show at age 16 playing the requested songs of his radio audience.
His current band, the Bob Boyd Sounds, plays about 100 private engagements
and concerts each year. Bob and his wife Donnie owned and operated Boyd
Music Center in Little Rock for over 38 years. They have one daughter, Melody,
who was piano accompanist for the Central High School Choir in her senior
year, 1985. Her son Cameron, born in 1999, also plays piano.
Bob also works as a solo performer.
He has developed a series of solo piano and vocal presentations, several
of which are based on the lives and music of legendary composers such as
Stephen Foster, George Gershwin and Irving Berlin. He has performed for
Lifequest and for church and civic groups around central Arkansas. He has
several other programs completed and many others are currently being developed.
Bob also plays accordion, guitar and banjo, and can taylor his programs
to any theme for your group.
